Canceled camps

Unfortunately,
We are canceling the scheduled hip-hop intensive this week due to lack of enrollment (we must have 5 signed up).
BUT

It’s not too late to sign up for camps that do start tomorrow!

Tumbling Camp ~ June 3 – 6 ~ (Ages 6-11) ~ 9AM – 1PM $125
All skill levels; flexibility, strength & tumbling; games, obstacle courses and crafts

Angelina Ballerina Camp ~ June 3 – 6~ (Ages 3-6) ~ 9AM – 12PM  $100
A combination of ballet class, acting and making crafts all centered around the show and book Angelina Ballerina.

Technique Intensive ~ June 3 – 5 ~ (Ages 7-18) ~ 10AM – 1PM  $100
Ages 7-18. For those students interested in serious work on improving their basic jazz/ballet technique, great preparation for upcoming National competitions and team auditions.

Saturday Registration

This year’s recital was such a blast!
If you missed it, don’t worry.
A brand new season is beginning!
Come join us for a summer and fall of hard work, dancing, and most importantly, FUN!
HDA is extremely excited to get back to it!

This Saturday, registration will be open for summer/fall classes at the studio (275 Jackson Meadows Dr. behind the Walmart in Hermitage) from 10am-2pm.

This Week

There week be no classes tomorrow (Monday, May 14th)!!

Dress rehearsal starts on Tuesday, May 14th AT BELMONT.

Check your email for your rehearsal times. You should have received an email with the show orders. Please try to arrive approximately 30 minutes before your scheduled time. We WILL run on time!!!

Can’t wait to preview all of the wonderful performances the students have been working on all year!

Registration & Competition

Everyone, registration is still open!
BUT
anyone who registers from now on will not be able to participate in the recital.
Unfortunately, the costumes have already been ordered!

Also,

HDA’s competition team is competing in their first competition of the season, Starquest!!
It’s this weekend at TPAC (Tennessee Performing Arts Center).
The event is free and group dances will be on Saturday!

Christmas Party

Hey, are you in the Christmas spirit??

The annual Christmas party will be held tomorrow from 4-6!

And guess who is coming……

SANTA!!!!!!!!!!!!!

There will be:

-Free pictures with Santa (bring your camera)
- A craft fair with various booths filled with wonderful items (great for Christmas presents)
- Crafts, games, and fun for the kids :)

Also, there will be a Parents Night Out following the party from 6-10! Parents go out and have a night to yourselves or get that shopping in!!

Boys Only Ballet Class

We are excited to announce we are now offering a Boys Only Ballet Class!

When?

Mondays from 7:30-8:30!

This is an incredible opportunity for boys!  It will be offered for free for the rest of the month :)

Boys are taking dance classes more than ever before and Ballet offers many benefits:

Improves balance
Helps create fluid movement
Improves flexibility
Provides a TOTAL body workout
Improves posture
Improves strength and endurance
Improves coordination

(All of which can help them in other sports!)

The class will be taught by Judson Veach!  Below is his bio:

Judson Veach trained for 11 years with Columbus Dance Theatre (CDT) where he studied under his father and Artistic Director, Tim Veach, as well as teachers Anne Adair, Kennet Oberly, Roberta Taylor, Scott Brown and other CDT faculty.

After completing two years as an apprentice at CDT, he went on to a year of study on full scholarship at the School of American Ballet. While there, he danced the principal role in Atonement by Canadian choreographer Josh Bemish as part of the New York City Ballet’s Choreographic Workshop.

He has danced roles in a variety of classical repertoire including Flower Festival and Kermesse in Brugges, and has worked extensively under various contemporary choreographers including Mark Diamond, Jean Pierre Bonnefoux, Kristina Isabelle, Kennet Oberly, Stella Kane and Tim Veach.

He danced the role of Dream Hansel in Opera Columbus’ Hansel and Gretel and danced the role of Puck in A Midsummer Night’s Dream at the Lancaster Arts Festival in 2004. Judson attended The Julliard School Summer Dance Intensive in 2007 where he studied with Andra Corvino, Alexandra Wells and Alexander Proia. In the summer of 2008 he attended the Chautauqua Summer Dance Institute where he was awarded the Chautauqua Dance Circle Scholarship. In 2009 he received a full scholarship to the summer and year round programs at the School of American Ballet studying under Peter Martins, Jock Soto, Andrej Kramarevsky, Sean Lavery, Johnathan Stafford and Peter Frame.

After attending the summer intensive program at Nashville Ballet in 2010, he joined the company as an apprentice the same year, and was promoted to full company member in 2011. His credits at Nashville Ballet include dancing Arabian in Nashville’s Nutcracker and the Watusi man in Salsa Dreams.
